A number of clients have been asking for appointments recently. So, I am happy to announce that I will be taking appointments on the hour. The rest of the time will still be available for walk-in clients. This will let you choose whatever works best for you. I look forward to hearing your feedback next time you are in the barbershop!

Welcome to the best Barbershop and the best Barber in Victoria. With 20 years experience and a approachable personality. I am proud of the quality and workmanship I will bring to your haircut.
Burt started out in Saskatchewan where he got his barbering certification in Prince Albert at SIAST Woodland campus.
Afterwards, he moved to Victoria and worked around the CRD for a year. Then he bought a shop in James Bay where he worked for 17 years.
Recently, he bought the current shop in Oak Bay from Tony in 2021.
Burt believes in providing a good haircut at a competitive rate, all while having fun. Burt has seen the trends, being in the industry for decades while maintaining a traditional barbershop style.

F.A.Q.’s
Do I take appointments?
We take appointments though the button on the top of this page.
Appointments are taken at the top of the hour for roughly 15—20 minutes. Then the rest of the hour will be available for walk-in clients.
Where are you located?
My shop is sometimes hard to find. The address is Oak Bay Avenue, but my shop faces Monterey Ave. If you are on the corner of Oak Bay Avenue and Monterey Avenue, look north, and you will find the shop on the left side.
Do accept credit card or debit card?
Yes. I accept Master Card, Visa, American Express, and Debit.
When do you take holidays?
It varies. I recommend checking with this website or my Facebook page or my instagram account or calling to hear my voicemail message. I try to update regularly.
Why are you so awesome?
I think it has to to with my great clients, it tends to rub off. 🤪
What is your covid protocols?
I am very flexible. I can work around your mask. I can also wear a mask, on request. If you want space, I can ask the other customers to kindly wait outside for a few minutes. I can open the window and turn on the fan (again on request).
As always I do my best to keep my tools, chairs and shop clean.
For your piece of mind, I am fully vaccinated.
Cancellation Policy
Burt’s Barbershop – Appointment Cancellation Policy
At Burt’s Barbershop, we value your time and ours. To provide the best service to all of our clients, we kindly ask that you respect our appointment policy:
- Appointment Changes & Cancellations – Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations can be made by calling, texting, or using our online booking system.
- Late Arrivals – If you are more than 5 minutes late, we may need to shorten your service or reschedule your appointment to avoid delaying other clients. For example, appointment for 3pm will be given to the next customer at 3:05pm.
- No-Show Policy – A “no-show” is when a client misses an appointment without notifying us. After one no-show, you may be required to prepay for future appointments or may lose the ability to book in advance.
- Why This Policy Matters – When appointments are missed without notice, it leaves a time slot that could have been offered to another client. For example, if you book a 3:00 PM haircut and do not show up, that appointment goes unused, and another client misses the opportunity to get in.
- Courtesy & Respect – We understand that emergencies happen, and we will always do our best to accommodate you. However, consistent late cancellations or missed appointments affect both our barbers and other customers.

About Burt
Burt Hill
Owner / Barber
Raised in Kamloops, B.C. Lived in North Battleford, Meadow Lake and Prince Albert for eight years where he ran two restaurants. Trained as a barber in SIAST (Saskatchewan Institute of Applied technology). Moved to Victoria in 2005 and continued to work in various barbershops around the Capital Regional District. In 2006 he bought the James Bay Barber Stylist, and made it his own.
